BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Pantry 279 recently received a donation from local personal injury law firm, the Ken Nunn Law Office, to support its 2026 Children’s Summer Food Program, which provides food to children across several Southern Indiana counties while school is out for the summer.

The staff of Pantry 279 visited the Ken Nunn Law Office and shared more about the care, planning, and community support behind the Children’s Summer Food Program.

“Meeting the wonderful staff from Pantry 279 was one of those days that fills your heart in the best way possible,” Attorney Vicky Nunn said. “They support kids with everything from meals to kind smiles, and we love their dedication to our community.”

“For many children school isn’t just a place for learning. It’s a lifeline for consistent, healthy meals,” Pantry 279 explained in its 2026 Children’s Summer Food Program materials. “But what happens when school is out for the summer? That’s where Pantry 279 steps in.”

Every year, Pantry 279’s Children’s Summer Food Program helps around 3,600 children who rely on school meals during the academic year continue receiving food during summer break. The program provides food from May through August and brings that support directly into local communities through five weekly pop-up pantry locations across Monroe, Owen, Greene, and Lawrence counties.

“Seeing the impact they make every single day in the lives of kids and families is incredibly moving,” Vicky Nunn said. “They create hope, comfort and love to our children and local communities.”

For Vicky Nunn, supporting Pantry 279 is one way to stay connected to the people and families the Ken Nunn Law Office has served for decades, as her father Ken Nunn did before her.

Pantry 279, also known as “The Pantry with TLC,” is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Bloomington. In addition to food, the organization provides household products, health and beauty items, and other basic incidentals for families and individuals in South Central Indiana.
