This week we celebrate Thanksgiving, a time to get together with family and friends. We here at the Ken Nunn Law Office wish you a heartfelt and sincere ‘Happy Thanksgiving’!
We also know that this long holiday weekend is a time of significant travel for a lot of Indiana families, and we want to remind you to be safe out there on the roads. Only you can ensure that you are driving safe and not impaired, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee what the other drivers are doing.
Earlier this week in Fort Wayne, an impaired driver caused a five car accident at 7:30am. According to police, the impaired driver had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .15% (the legal limit is .08%), which suggests that he had been drinking for several hours preceding the car accident. This is a reminder to all of us that the day of the week and the time of the day are not that relevant when it comes to becoming victimized by the negligent actions of others.
It appears that not only was the driver impaired, but his driving skills were significantly reduced as well. Police report that the accident occurred due to the impaired driver running a red light and that’s when the car accident took place.
The driver of other car was immediately transported to the hospital and was listed in ‘fair condition’. No other injury victims have been reported, but certainly the properties of three other people were impacted.
So to recap, we are approaching the holiday season and are reminded of the risks on the road by a drunk driver that caused a five car pile-up in the Fort Wayne area. More concerning was that one driver was sent to the hospital with serious injuries and three other drivers had their cars damaged.
