An alleged drunk driver crashed a commercial van into an ambulance in Carmel on Friday, November 14. The incident subsequently led to an arrest.
According to a report released by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, a 37-year-old male motorist from Sheridan was southbound in the van on Hazel Dell Parkway at approximately 8:15 a.m. when he attempted a left turn. His van then crashed into an ambulance attempting to cross 146th Street.
No Serious Injuries Reported
The ambulance came to a stop on the median. Fortunately, no patient was being transported at the time of the collision. According to authorities, none of the three people in the ambulance was injured seriously. There was no immediate report regarding the nature of any injuries.
Multiple Charges, Including OWI
According to the sheriff’s office, the driver of the van was subsequently arrested on multiple charges, including operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. There was no immediate information available as to whether a breath/alcohol test was administered.
