Indianapolis car accidents are so incredibly devastating. It’s impossible to overstate just how destructive they can be. In an instant, they can cut short a young life or change it forever. A rising star at Indiana University is no longer battling an opposing team, he’s fighting to recover after an near fatal car accident.
Thankfully, the young man is said to be improving, regaining the use of all of his limbs after suffering a severe head injury over the weekend. He was struck by a vehicle after getting out of a car in the early morning hours after being dropped off at Memorial Stadium
The coach sums up the situation, “Too often in life, we all take for granted the simple tasks of opening our eyes, processing thoughts and putting a simple sentence together… In our program, we routinely emphasize to our players that everything matters and watching [him] improve just over the last 36 hours has furthered our belief in that approach.”
It’s believed that alcohol played a factor as the driver that accidentally struck him had a BAC of .025, which is illegal for drivers under the age of 21. The driver was not charged for injuring the player as the collision wasn’t considered malicious or negligent.
As injury lawyers in Indianapolis, we know that underage men and women are often pressured to drink, but the effects can be devastating. We can only hope the young player has a full and quick recovery and can once again get out on the court.
