You can never truly know how much grief follows an accident until you hear it from the victim’s family themselves. Fox 59 spoke with the family of a little girl who was killed in a tragic auto accident earlier in the month. Their words resonate with an incredible amount of heartbreak. “We are going to miss her severely. She is the light of the family. She was a happy little girl.”
The little girl was riding with family when they got a flat tire. The driver turned on the flashers and brought the car to a stop. Unfortunately, a pickup truck was approaching from behind them, didn’t have enough time to stop, and slammed into the back of the car.
It is believed that the little girl wasn’t properly secured in a car seat. The others in the car survived but were left with serious injuries and are still being held at local hospitals. The girl passed away at the scene. It’s impossible to say whether or not the girl would have survived if she had been in a safety seat, but it’s a chance you should never take with children.
The state of Indiana is clear about its child safety seat laws. The IN.gov site has an easy to understand list of requirements. As lawyers we believe that these regulations are put into place to make sure that an already horrible accident isn’t made that much worse.
