An accident that results from drinking and driving can cause a lifetime of heartache for everyone involved. The consequences of one of these accidents is never worth a fun night of drinking with friends, but unfortunately, too many people in and around Indianapolis have found this out the hard way.
After a fatal accident in downtown Indy over the weekend, two families will be forever affected. A young woman had too much to drink and got behind the wheel of her car. She didn’t get far before police believe she ran through a red light and t-boned a taxi cab. There were no passengers in the taxi at the time of the wreck, but the driver was tragically killed in the collision.
The young woman walked away physically unscathed, but there’s no doubt the consequences that will follow are going to do their own damage. Ultimately she was arrested for “operating a vehicle while intoxicated, causing death.” At the time of the accident her blood alcohol content was .26, three times the legal limit.
Downtown Indy can be a dangerous place, especially around 3:00 am when this accident occurred. Bars have shut down for the night and their intoxicated patrons far too often try to drive themselves home. We can’t stress enough how important it is to not drive drunk, don’t let this story become yours.
