Hurt In Any Accident?

Have you suffered from Asbestos Exposure?

If you have been exposed to asbestos fibers because of your job, there is a chance you may become a victim of mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that is caused only by asbestos exposure. Mesothelioma affects a thin membrane known as the mesothelium that surrounds many of the body’s vital organs. Mesothelioma generally affects the areas around the lungs (pleural mesothelioma), the heart (pericardial mesothelioma), around reproductive organs (mesothelioma of the tunica vaginalis) and the abdomen (peritoneal mesothelioma).

Mesothelioma is a very painful and deadly form of cancer. The only known cause is exposure to asbestos. Most people who develop mesothelioma do so after being exposed to asbestos particles at their job, or from being exposed to asbestos dust or fiber from a family member’s work clothes.

The two most common forms of mesothelioma are pleural mesothelioma and peritoneal mesothelioma.

Pleural mesothelioma occurs when asbestos fibers are breathed in and become lodged in the pleura — the thin membrane that lines and encases the lung. The symptoms of pleural mesothelioma include shortness of breath, chest or back pain, chronic hoarseness, pleural effusions (an accumulation of fluid between the lining of the lung and the chest cavity), difficulty swallowing, coughing up blood, swelling of the face and arms, fever, muscle weakness and sensory loss and nausea. Pleural mesothelioma is sometimes misdiagnosed as lung cancer.

Peritoneal mesothelioma is cancer of the membrane that encompasses the lining of the abdomen. The symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma include pain or swelling of the abdomen, weight loss and anemia, bowel obstruction, tumors in the peritoneal tissues, night sweats, frequency in urination, fever and loss of muscle tissue.

Presently there is no known cure for mesothelioma, although there are treatments available to help alleviate the symptoms. The treatments are expensive and often take the form of surgery or specific medicinal cocktails.

Most people who develop mesothelioma are members of the labor industry. Many companies used asbestos even after learning of its dangers because it was cheap and abundant. Since asbestos was used in so many products, it is a still a substance that can be encountered today.

If you or someone you love have worked in the following occupations, there is a chance you could have been exposed to asbestos on the job: electricians, carpenters, pipefitters, cement finishers, lathers, machinists, painters, plasterers, insulators, roofers, welders, foundry workers, auto mechanics, masonry workers, longshoremen, naval yard workers, paper workers, plumbers, boilermakers, power plant workers, steam fitters, railroad workers, Navy personnel, millwrights, aircraft mechanics, or any job that exposes you to asbestos.

Mesothelioma can take anywhere from 10 years to 50 years to develop after initial asbestos exposure. If you were exposed to asbestos on the job 40 or 50 years ago, you may be experiencing the symptoms of mesothelioma now.

Don’t let a company get away with the negligent use of a product that ruined your health! If you’ve been hurt due to asbestos exposure, call me, Ken Nunn. I believe in the hard-working families of Indiana. I will do everything in my power to help you fight the companies that knowingly exposed you to asbestos.
