A school bus full of children was involved in a fatal Indianapolis crash that occurred on March 12th. The accident happened in the morning, in the 900 block of Emerson Avenue, as 50 kids were being transported to Lighthouse Charter School. The bus driver and one child were killed in the crash and a dozen other children suffered injuries.
Indiana personal injury attorney Ken Nunn has filed claims against Miller Transportation Inc. on behalf of the families of five children hurt in the crash. Nunn asserts that Miller, the company who owns and operates the bus, failed to provide its passengers with a safe vehicle.
A number of the children were severely injured and taken to Wishard Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children. This crash is not something they will soon forget and even those without physical injuries can still suffer emotionally from post-traumatic stress.
The bus had no seat belts for the children and as a result left them more vulnerable to the impact of the crash. Currently, Indiana does not require its school buses to have safety restraints. Ken Nunn plans to file claims against the state of Indiana and also lobby legislators to change that.
